The UK announced earlier this month plans to provide Ukraine with the Storm Shadow, an air-launched cruise missile developed in partnership with France that has seen combat experience in various conflicts across the Middle East. ![]() "It's going to have a terrible effect on morale for the Russian forces, and officers and commanders who are going to be operating within Ukraine," George Barros, a Russia analyst at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), a Washington-based think tank, told Insider. ![]() Warfare experts say Storm Shadow missiles could spark new logistical headaches for Russia, giving Kyiv a massive capability to put the fear back into Moscow's commanders who thought they were safe and out of reach. Russian forces have already started adapting to game-changing weapons that Ukraine introduced into the war last year, like the US-provided High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) firing the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS). Ukraine's military just got its hands on Storm Shadow missiles from the UK, and it is already making good use of the newly acquired weapon that significantly boosts Kyiv's long-range strike capabilities. Schiffer clearly conveys the worry and stress that a child can feel in this sort of situation, not minimizing the emotional impact. Perfect for families of all sorts who may not fit the traditional stereotypical family, this picture book shows how a loving family can create their own unique solutions and fill them with their own joy. The novel is concerned in particular with issues of class, education, religion and marriage. The other main character is his cousin, Sue Bridehead, who is also his central love interest. Its protagonist, Jude Fawley, is a working-class young man, a stonemason, who dreams of becoming a scholar. ![]() This, the last completed of Thomas Hardy's novels, began as a magazine serial in December 1894 and was first published in book form in 1895. The pages turned quickly-my 40 minute bus ride home yesterday took me to page 167, and I almost missed my stop, and my poor children were sent to bed late (my husband being out for the evening) as I finished the last 200 or so pages.(and poor youngest child thought it was Friday, and no one reminded him to do his homework.) The Shadow Society, by Marie Rutkoski (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, YA, Oct., 2012) is the most gripping book I've read in 2013. ![]() 6/6/2023 0 Comments Cruel king rina kent![]() ![]() There were motifs, patterns, parallels, that created a solid canvas for this complex story. ![]() It wasn’t coming out of nowhere exactly, but there was still a twist near the end that brought the whole story to its closure, and it was nicely done. Even though some of them were really of the villain-y kind, with little to no nuance. They aren’t just here to move the romance forward. I wanted to know more about Astrid’s father, about her best friend, about the rest of the football team. And though we don’t see as much of them as we do of Astrid and Levi–and we don’t get their point of view–they all have their own agenda that doesn’t revolve around the main couple, and it was interesting. ![]() But let’s say that there was some, it kind of showed in little things–Levi’s protective side, some gentler moments when they talk instead of arguing. Love, hard to tell, besides the characters’ own words. Not pitch black, but it was still difficult to see the light–or the romance, in this case. ![]() ![]() ![]() I highly recommend this book as part of a series but not as much as a standalone story.Īll in all, I really enjoyed this book, and I’m looking forward to the next one. So I was disappointed to get to the end and see that certain plot points weren’t going to be resolved in this book. My one complaint about this book is that there’s no indication that it’s part one of a series. I wouldn’t recommend it to someone looking for an erotic story. I would expect that the next book will focus more on that sub-plot.Īlthough there is a sexually explicit scene, this is not a highly sexual book. There are hints at a paranormal plot, but it’s in the background. The focus of this book is the budding romance between Kunal and Oscar as well as Kunal’s struggles around coming out to his traditional family. It’s also refreshing to find a book showing gay romance through a different cultural perspective. Their personalities shine through from both introspection and action. That should be enough to keep anyones mind preoccupied, but Kunal cant really ignore that hes nearly thirty, single, and still buried in the closet. ![]() ![]() Kunal and Oscar are really brought to life.
